Caesar’s Ford Theatre is the only American Indian performing arts non-profit in Ohio. CFT places particular importance in sharing the accurate history of American Indians by correcting harmful misrepresentations of American Indian history that are contained in well-known media. The work of CFT reclaims the agency of the storytelling by being led by a majority Tribal Citizen Board, and employing and collaborating with Tribal Citizens. We aim to present our work not as a passive viewing, but through screenings, open houses, historical interpretation presentations, history panels, and conversations. CFT’s work to educate and share the history of the American Indians, and their traditional arts, practices, values, and beliefs, is essential to creating a lasting positive bond between the people that were forced from their homeland and those that now reside there.

Caesar’s Ford Theatre received general operating support for their Program Director to produce Stomping Freedom, a feature film and their largest project to date, all while navigating paused and cancelled grant awards.
