The Curtis Legacy Foundation is dedicated to deepening the public’s understanding of Native American cultures by creating innovative learning opportunities, using the work of Edward Curtis as our platform. The foundation was created by John Graybill, the great-grandson of Edward S. Curtis, who is famous for his twenty-volume publication, The North American Indian (1907-1930).
The Curtis Legacy Foundation received support for the Descendants Project, which is a multi-media venture to find, interview, and photograph living descendants of some Native People whom Curtis photographed nearly one hundred years ago.
